Face Painting

Scaring up the perfect look – YouTube

Face Painting,  Face painting came very easily and naturally to me, but not without education and encouragement, starting with my parents.  I was an art major in college & taught for many years @ Piedmont Adult School before I became a face painter.    Continuing education is a must for me and with Face & Body Painting,  I’ve studied with many of the top artist’s & teachers in the field including, Jodi Carr, Martin Armand, The Wolfe Bros- Nick & Brian, Olivier Zeger, & Pashur.  I also lead workshops from time to time. Of paint, I prefer Wolfe FX & Tag brands for it’s brilliancy of color and have customized my own paint pallet to create some wonderful results.

For the past 12 years I’ve been face painting every Wednesday for Family Night @ The Falls Restaurant @ The Blackhawk Country Club. The job has enabled me to become a stronger and faster painter as those kids really test my abilities with their requests. I also created a system to expedite the wait in line with “The Rainbow Express Line”. This means, if you don’t want to wait in line for a high detail design, you go to the express line.

I load my brush and start the kids counting to 45 (seconds) and that’s it. I will paint 3 express designs for one detailed design, and it really speeds the line along. I demonstrate that, though it may be painted fast it can still make you go “Wow!”

Balloon Twisting

balloon twisting art children happy

Balloon Twisting- Twisty animals balloons are very popular and bring much pleasure and joy to people. I’ve been twisting for 20+ years and still delight in it. For large crowds I have a very powerful dual compressor Majiloon balloon pump that inflates balloons nearly instantaneously. As for designs, the list is long. One might think, a balloon is a balloon, but I notice I frequently get positive feedback after just a twist or two that “I’m really good”. test

A medical strength adhesive is applied and let dry to clear, then the fun begins in applying the ultra fine, cosmetic grade colorful glitters. The results even make me go “Wow!”

Henna Art

Henna art – I’ve been doing henna about 10 years now, as a contemporary embellisher, more for the teen scene than a traditional approach used for weddings. I use cones filled with quality fresh henna in it’s application and find it’s a natural outlet for my drawing ability.

Pet & People Caricatures

DSCN0073

Pet & People Caricatures – I’ve been drawing people since college, but developed the skill of puppy quick sketch specifically for the Petco Stores who hired me for their grand openings throughout California and including Alaska. One has to look and draw quickly as truly dogs have a short attention span. When it comes to modeling, people are better models. For tools I draw w/ a black sharpie and color with chalk pastel and prefer working from a frontal pose.

Name Painting

nameartpainting11

Name Painting- The technique of name painting is one of the most difficult skills sets I have under my belt. As an offshoot of calligraphy, each letter of the alphabet is a painting in itself. Working with a self-created tool, a type of leather brush made of old credit cards cut length wise then tipped with leather. Working with calligraphy inks I play with other compositional elements of design in addition to letter form when doing this technique. Name painting is not good for parties as, for me, it’s too timely and labor intensive, but it does make a wonderful customized personal gift that I would be delighted to create for you.
